The Hawaiian party theme would work well being held on the beach, but could also be in a park or in your back garden. The centre point of the party should be your surf shack or beach bar, which ever one you choose.

The luau party should typically be about eating lovely food, singing and dancing.

Dressing up is essential and the ladies will look fantastic in grass skirts, floral arm bands, a lei necklace, flowers in their hair and even a coconut bra as an added optional.

Guys get to dress in their favorite Hawaiian print shirt. Get some matching shorts, sandals, sunglasses and a flowery necklace and you’re all set. I’m afraid that the ladies have a much better costume for this theme though.

For fun and for your setting, I would consider some or all of the following ideas; hula hoops (have a contest to see who can hula the longest), beach balls and net, limbo stick (great for when everybody is drunk) and take care to scatter sea shells and coconuts around your venue for effect. Rock music has always had its critics and those that wish that rock and pop music would just go away. But over the years rock has proven to be pretty resilient and has withstood the test of time. Pop music is a bit of a different animal than rock music although the two genres do tend to cross over a great deal. Rock music is usually classified as music driven by electric guitar and all the various sub-genres of rock are usually identified with electric guitar driven music. Rock usually has a certain angst or message to it and many in the rock music industry take their music and their message very seriously. Pop music is usually a little more encompassing than rock music. Pop music is used to identify music that seems to be universally popular with a large audience and can cross over from genre to genre. Pop is usually accepted as being short for popular so what we are really dealing with here is what the music industry considers to be popular music which translates into music that has greater potential to sell a lot of records. The Jonas Brothers are the latest teen superstars to hit it big in music, movies and television. This band is not your run of the mill bubble gum pop band, they actually have talent and are great guys in real life. Jonas Brothers are unique in that they band consist of three New Jersey brothers, Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas all of whom actually do play their own instruments and write and record their own music. The Jonas Brothers have released three albums and are set to release their 4th in the summer of 2009.

Have you ever dreamed of performing a piece you created for others. Imagining that they are captivated and held spellbound by the music? If you have, you know that it can be a long road from actually coming up with something, practicing it, and then giving it to an audience. In my own case, I had a good opportunity to perform. It was in a coffeehouse that already had a decent piano.

The problem was that I was playing for people who had come to listen mostly to guitarists on open mike night. Young guitarists that sang and played mostly Rock music or a derivative of it. I didn’t care so much about that because I had the chance to go in front of people and share the gift of music.

In public speaking it’s said that the fear of standing in front of a group of people and talking is caused by the anticipation of losing face – of looking or appearing like a fool. Now, some may be able to get up in front of a group and actually feel better than they felt before getting in front of people, but the reality is that 99% of us are going to feel some kind of anxiety.
